Thank you for all your lovely comments to me over the past couple of weeks.

It has been a roller coaster of life.

Today though I feel as though the pieces are coming together, it's like someone hid them for a while and I had to hunt.

The over all picture is a little different to what I expected the box would look like.

A little cryptic I know.

My life is changing again.

I might not feel fabulous right now.

but ..

It will be.

Back to my beautiful belle France soon.

A trip out of Paris- Part 1.

Claude Monet

14 November 1840 – 5 December 1926) was a founder of French impressionist painting.

He is also my favourite painter

I had to go and visit his home and gardens in Giverny.

I have always wanted to do this but somehow missed the opportunity.

On a beautiful Saturday morning we boarded a train at Saint Lazare in Paris and headed from

Vernon-70kms to the West of Paris.

We were advised by one of our guides to hire on of these so we did.

It was a fabulous 20 minute ride through the gorgeous French country side to

Maison Monet.

I was truly in Heaven, biking through the French country side with my two friends and feeling like school girls.

We passed by beautiful fields filled with wild poppies

Being a Florist I couldn't quite believe it. But this was just the beginning

There was so much more to come ...

Just a glimpse - the true water lilllies off the canvas for me.

I dont even remember what this display was of - but couldn't resist.

We spent a good part of one of our days looking for this restaurant- the Polidor.

It was well worth it. The service was lovely and the food very good.

Apparently it has been graced by quite the famous people for instance - Earnest Hemmingway and is actually spotlighted in "Midnight in Paris"

-which I absolutely adored and we saw while we were in Paris.

It was wonderful coming out of the cinema at the Odeon and be in the very place you had seen on film.

Paris helps me see things from a different view. I love this capture of Notre Dame from the other side,

not often photographed. The park here is lovely.

The inside of Notre Dame is always captivating to me. I love to just sit...listen -watch-and pray

It was berry fruits with chantilly cream ---the most delicious surprise being the delicate taste of rose water.

My dream was to live in Paris and live like a Parisian.

I was able to do this for two weeks.

On a Tuesday, Friday and Sunday there is a market in my street.

They sell Pain!!!!! In abundance

And Frais!!!!!........mmmm like you have never smelled or tasted before.

We brought some special raisin Brioche home for breakfast

And of course those strawberries, the yoghurt in France is just to die for .

The best Petit dejeuner in town.

It's one of my favourite views in the world. Walking across Pont de Arts .....and looking towards the islands.

Walking across La paaserelle des Arts, one of the pedestrian bridges in Paris. On a Sunday or any fine evening in Paris it is a place where people come to celebrate. On the days we walked across it it was packed with people and their parties. The bridge is covered in Padlocks. The legend is - if you put your names on a padlock and throw the keys into the Seine, you will return to Paris....

Let's start at the very beginning, a very good place to start...

Our first impressions of Paris were -- the Parisians really "get" their own city.

People were every where in the Park, street, bridges just enjoying their place.

It was a Monday and the streets were packed, brimming with people enjoying the sun.

Not a cell phone in sight or a laptop or mobile device, just people talking - sitting face to face,

enjoying each other.

Paris you have a lesson for me today and I think I learnt it.

After such a wonderful experience and people rich time it is time to head home.
I have had such fantastic experiences and made some fabulous new friends. Serendipity has certainly played it's role in my journey. All of my travel plans exceeded my expectations and I have once again been captivated by the Europeans.
It is time to head towards familiar shores - although it's a long journey to get there. I am going distract myself with movies galore.
Stay posted for further installments. There will be many photos to come.

I am finally back and able to post properly! It has been a whirlwind of a time here in France. I am loving every minute.
Paris of course was our first point of call. I was so lucky to be able to enjoy this time with friends. Paris is still captivating to me - it's very "rhythm of life " I love. I cannot describe the connection. If you have it - you do. You either get Paris or not. I am truly smitten.

It was quite a climb to our apartment - 100 steps. I didn't mind at all - my knee protested a little - bit it was worth the climb with the rooftops of Paris awaiting. Our little Paris apartment with a beautiful view.

Bonjour mon Ames,
I have arrived and it is everything I could imagine and have remembered. I absolutely adore this place, every single cliche. It is wonderful in every way. I have seen lovers, thinkers, artists, philosophers, fleurists, beautiful Parisiennes, cute waiters, terrible toilets and everything French!
The only unfortunate thing is I can't Post one single photo. It is a sad sad thing but I mint be able to get around it. In two weeks I will have some luck with connection through a laptop.
I will try my best to describe my time.

The internet has been strange this week in regard to Blog-land. I felt stranded with being unable to comment or update. Funny how we become so attached to our blogging community. I could browse others but it somehow didn't feel the same.

I am able to sit today and think about Paris - not uncommon for me - but knowing I will be there in just over 1 week is amazing - 7 more sleeps until I step on French soil.

Today I will reminisce a little over past visits.

This time we hope to travel to the Loire Valley - Giverny - and Champagne region as well as taking in our beautiful Paris.

Will definitely be ordering some of this

1) I was born in Auckland New Zealand and lived there mostly for 37 years apart from the years I was away with my family.

Yes I am returning to my belle France. This time 2 weeks in Paris- staying in the 6th very close to Luxemburg gardens, 1 week in Alpe de Heus- with my brother who will be riding for cancer, 2 weeks in Provence, one of them cooking ( with hubby in tow)....and exploring a new country for me - Spain.

I am blessed.

Sometimes mid week we need a little boost.

Some like to call Wednesday "hump day" and it does feel like that at times.

In my home town we have a French market on a Wednesday and what better way to get over the hurdle.

Off to the market I went with my little wicker basket in hand ..

and filled it with these, they are now sitting on my desk, my table and my kitchen bench.

If I could I would have left them bundled up like this.

I just think they look delicious!

I had a proud Mum moment this week. My son has been

practising his heart out in a local Musical society performance of Andrew Lloyd Webber's Cats.

This week they debut .

My son Tyler played Alonzso and I must say did a fabulous job.

We have always been a musical family, our kids have been to them since they were little.

The last time we saw Cats I remember my son asking --" How do you get into these things? "

Well being the determined character he is - he found out - auditioned and was the youngest cast member bar one.

Unfortunately we were unable to take photos during the performance but those who have been to Cats know that the Cast members have fun with the audience at half time.

He certainly did. His brother and sister thought he was fabulous and so did we.

I was sitting in bed this morning and had the luxury of a Sunday morning lazy start to the day.
My daughter graced me with Tea and Toast, which my little dog was very happy about.
Hubby is away on business and so it is quiet in the house today.
The roses at the top of my blog were opening beautifully and so I thought I would photograph them - it's been a while since I touched a flower -- instead I looked around my desk and saw all my little "me" things.

I'm very excited. I have found one of my treasures that I thought was lost.
My hubby gave me this cookbook for my birthday in the first year of our marriage.
It really does prove that my love affair with France has been alive and well for a very long time.
I remember perusing the pages lovingly and wondering if I would ever get to see these glorious images for myself.
I have and I will again.

The colours of Provence

Wandering through the markets, alley ways and streets of Aix en Provence it is not hard to see it's unique colour palette ...It's beautiful. I took these on my trip with my daughter last year.

Some how the Mistral winds of Provence are calling my name once again and I will be going back to explore and discover more of these beautiful part of the world..

A Little Gastronomy

Grilled Figs with Goats cheese

Smoked salmon cured with beetroot and grilled scallops

Pork belly with crisp crackling and celeriac mash

Yes I was treated a little yesterday to a lovely Lunch at the Sofitel Hotel Sydney.
Starters for me were the Figs and Goats cheese, which would have to be one of the nicest things I have eaten.
The 2nd picture is my friend's food which just look like a painted canvas and I couldn't resist.
The Pork was also divine and..I had dessert- peach souflè with white chocolate sauce.
I didn't photograph which is a crime.
I have to admit I am addicted to fine dining. I love to create it and I love to experience it.

The Perfect chair!

I have been searching for a while for that perfect chair for the bedroom,

somewhere to sit that is in just the right spot. A bliss chair.

I found my perfect chair after searching through fabric and finding the most comfortable design.

It is now all made - fabric from the UK- with the right amount of green, the right stripe, and a touch of gingham.

I love it!

Someone else seems to like it too. I wonder if she will share?

A little Piece of Heaven

I experienced a little piece of heaven today in the form of a Valentine's day treat.

My hubby was away for the day. Quite rare for us on Valentines.

Instead of flowers - I got a beautiful treat. A full body treatment at a Spa.

It was divine and I have never felt so pampered in my life.

As I was being spoilt - my beautiful therapist and I passed the time away doing as ladies do best.

We chatted, as though we were old friends. It was lovely and somehow there was an intimacy there that I can't quite describe.

It was almost out of this world.

She also had magic fingers and I came away feeling as though I was walking on clouds.

Treat yourself.

You are worth it.

One legend contends that Valentine was a priest who served during the third century in Rome. The Hopeless Romantic

From the film " Ever after!"

I am afraid I am a helplessly hopeless romantic. I fall for anything of this sort and lately I seemed to have indulged myself a little. This is one of my favourite scenes from a Movie favourite I revisited recently.
Ever After - with Drew Barrymore and Dougray Scott. They are both delightfully matched in a spin on the Cinderella story. It is charming and one for the tissues.

Lost in Austen

Another 'Chic Flick' series I am loving. Based on a modern day spin of a girl landing herself in the world of Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice . Amanda Price finds a corridor between her modern day world and the fictional place she dreams off behind her shower box.

It is a wonderful show and every Austen fan's hope to be actually walking in the shoes of Elizabeth Bennet. In the show Ms Price exclaims " It is a truth generally acknowledged that we are all longing to escape" I know I do once in a while. Hope the new year is proving wonderful for all of you and you are dreaming and romancing like me.

This is how we will be saying Goodbye to 2010.

We are sailing on a tall ship in Sydney Harbour for the NYE celebrations.

I have always wanted to do this and the excuse of my Dad being with us this year is a good one.

It should be a fabulous time. Sydney knows how to throw a party.

We start the night on the boat in the early evening watching the sunset and enjoying good seafood and champagne.

The tall ship we are going on is part of a light Parade that is put on in the harbour.

At 9pm there are fireworks where the skies light up! It's a prelude for the families for the 12 midnight fireworks. I am hoping to get some shots for you!

I want to take the chance to thank all of my lovely blogging friends.

No more Bah humbug

I has taken me a while to get back into the swing of things with blogging. I have been lurking in the trenches at you all and getting some lovely inspiring Christmas Ideas.

Usually I am little Miss Santa Claus but this year everything has faded a little.

The Christmas tree is up and is a little different this year. I will post a photo soon.

There is something warm and inviting about the "stripey candyness" of this setting.

I do love it.

I have a confession to make, I adore ribbons and bows and everything wrapping. I have been known on occasion to even have my own purchases wrapped. I learnt this from a lovely friend of mine. If I shop is offering free wrapping - why on earth not?

I also have a habit of wrapping things up again so they still look lovely. I am known for it. The colours of Christmas are so inviting and easy to put together. I am sticking with gold and silver this year and also plain wrapping embellished with red, white, gold or silver.

I love the look of this idea of mixing Christmas treats with the wrapping and just might have to go out and find myself some candy canes or lollie pops.

Yes Christmas is coming regardless of how I feel about things. I don't want to fake it until I make it as I do feel somewhat in the spirit. My Christmas list is already filled thanks to the recovery of my Dear Dad.

My friend's little house

I went to visit my lovely friends who have rented a little cottage in Carros, France. Carros is a perched village on a hill and was built in the 12th century. It is wonderfully delightful. It has been restored to perfection and it feels every bit as authentic as it once was.

There is not a car in sight as you walk the cobblestones. They are left on the side of the hill.

There is a Chateau at the highest point.

Truly a pleasure to see and stay here.

I am noticing that I am creeping off to bed a little earlier lately perhaps it is because there are only a few sleeps left before our trip. I must say I do have a few butterflies in my tummy.
My main concern is what to pack and what not to pack, will I have enough, will I be warm enough?
hmm...questions questions and fickle ones at that.
It's a long weekend here in Oz , which means only one thing - less time to think

Today something special came in the post

of my blog and you will understand my glee.

The Apartment in Paris where my daughter and I are staying in three weeks - eek!, has lovely old fashioned ideas.
They post you your keys in any part of the world.
I was a little worried as I hadn't seen them in the post box.
I was thinking about plan B, which is think is to try and communicate with a French only speaking Housekeeper.
That would have been interesting.
But...last night they were sitting waiting for me in the letter box. I squealed when I saw them. I think it's only me that gets it - maybe you would too.
In 1 week and 6 days we are winging our way on holiday - first to London, then Amsterdam, then Paris, - the South of France and Italy- Rome, Florence, and Venice. Writing it makes it a little more real. I really can't believe it. My daughter is coming with me. 5 weeks of bliss.

Pure pleasure

Last weekend I had the pleasure of doing a wedding for a fellow florist.

We followed her ideas to the letter and it was pure pleasure.

She created master pieces out of the bouquets - a gift for her daughter, who was just a vision of loveliness with a heart to match.

We dealt with Diva's at the venue but in the end...

Everyone was happy.

Look what I got! I thought I needed an upgrade of my computer and treated myself to a new toy.

It's very cool and now I can check on you where ever I am! You see I am travelling soon, so now I can look very important tapping away on my very cool laptop. I am by no means the computer nerd. It is very much a learn as you go basis but this will be great to up load photos of our travels. I love my very computer savvy son, I just point him in the direction of the box and waalaa it is all set to go. I know I am awfully behind the times but now I am caught up!

The F word

This may seem like an inappropriate post but don't be alarmed - it is perfectly clean and there are no shades of Gordon Ramsey in sight. Last night as I was thinking of my blogging journey I thought about the F's I often come back to.

When I started my blogging journey just over a year ago it was all about Floristry - Flowers were very much the main star of my journals. I have noticed lately that my tone changes from time to time but the F word remains.

It might be Family - very much the top of my list along with friends. I will share with you of my joys and sorrows and daily doings. I do refrain from posting photos of the crew on to the internet. It is just one of those things I chose - however I do talk about them very much.

Food - this of course is a huge priority in my blogging brain spce. I comes up often, I delight in finding new foods and places to eat. Really it is one of life's wonderful pleasures - Let's face it - I love to EAT!

Furnishings - another blogging enterprise. I love to get inspiration from those wonderful blogs I visit on what and how and who you are using. It's all so inspiring. Finding that true kindred spirit is wonderful, finding that something special to fill that place - finding it by accident is even better.

Fashion - always a winner! I love to flaunt it - I love hearing about it - whether it be shoes, hairstyles, the latest fad - that perfect necklace or jewellery maker that you have discovered - I love it all.

There is an F word that seems to be more and more common in my writing and that is anything FRENCH! I just can't help myself - I am a self confessed Francophile! Don't you love that? A friend coined the phrase the other day and I giggled when she said it - " One for the Blog," I said. Only a true blogger at heart would understand the camera coming out before devouring a perfect plate - having that perfect photo idea at the ready any time of day. I like it! I like reading yours and thank you for reading and sharing with me.

The final look.

We have had a few lovely finds lately- they have just seemed perfect. Sometimes you find just the right thing when you are not looking. The tables for the lounge were a find I couldn't resist and the large table I am sure has history. It is apparently an old Chinese door - I love the imperfections on it.

The bedroom is now complete and very pink - although in a lovely way. My D. H surprisingly chose the colour for the walls - now this cover compliments everything in just the right way.

Last night I was treated to an EVENT! A true dining experience. I was taken to the famous Claudes restaurant in Sydney. It is not unusual to have to book 1 month in advance. We were on the waiting list - and we got in. What a mouth watering adventure from start to finish.

Before you even enter intrigue is created. The entrance to the restaurant is a closed blue door with a bell ~only those with a reservation can enter.

The evening started with Champagne and finished with delight.

The menu was a degustation one ~ which according to Wikipedia is a culinery term meaning " a careful, appreciative tasting of various foods". Usually this can mean being left a little disappointed and a little hungry, not the case at Claudes. It was a dining extravagance.

learning life's lessons

I heard something today - that sometimes life's lessons come disguised and they can surprise you. I had one of these lessons come my way in the form of an injury. I injured myself at work by slipping quite badly on wet floor. I am ok but very bruised and licking my wounds. I'm off work for a while healing. My ankle is sprained - neck is sore and lower back.

It has given me some time to sit back and enjoy the school vacation - my daughter and my new renovations. I have stopped. Maybe I might not want the world to start up again.

Touched by faceless friends

Today I was touched, I couldn't help it - tears flowed. Sometimes I get the luxury to sit and read posts - past posts, anyones posts that take my fancy. Today I was of those days. I read a post and it brought me to tears. It doesn't take much these days but this was truly lovely.

It was about a doggie who had passed.

Being so passionate about our own wee Bella I can only imagine the pain that comes with the loss of a family pet. Yes it happened to me when I was young but we have not had a loss for a very long time. I do not look forward to that final day --- but I do cherish the moments.

It makes me realise how very precious every day is.

Let us cherish them all...

Dreaming of Paris....and 100th Post!

I don't know if you have ever had the chance but if you do take a peek at the movie that is playing on my blog. It of course highlights Paris but most importantly a gorgeous apartment in Montmartre.

I have news - wonderful news! I am going back to my Paris! This time with DD in tow. We have decided to do a not so whirl wind tour of Europe starting in London - Amsterdam Paris- South of France and Italy! My heart beats faster just typing it. At the moment the major flights are booked so it is all go from here. I wanted it as a surprise but it is just too darn hard in our household to keep them so my DD now knows and is squealing. I am so excited.

We are both October babies and so will celebrate our birthdays with friends and family in Europe. My brother in Amsterdam and our lovely friends who are spending 3 months in the South of France. It is all plan plan plan from here and definitely polishing up our travel skills.

Hopefully the weather will be kind. I am hoping for light jumpers and being able to wear a dress or two. We will see, there still needs to be room for a few purchases in the bags. After all, the fashion centres of the world call us - London - Paris - Rome - Milan wowsa!

I was just reminded by a blogging friend that this is now my 100th post. She was posting about a giveaway and such for her 100th and 1 year blogging. I am sure it is both for me and i will go and peek. I thought I was close but when I went to peek I saw post 100! Now that is a coincidence!! 100 wow. I have nothing to giveaway as yet but will put my thinking cap on. The list will not be long as my blogging friends are few. I cannot boast 155 comments. Still the blogging journey has been so much more about self discovery. I do love it so. I am learning about myself and others and adore the connection we share.

The finishing touches have been added to our bedroom. Finally we have things the way we want them. It has taken a while but I am so pleased with the results. It is a little haven of bliss. I am able to shut out the world and bath in it maybe just for a moment.

My brother has been battling cancer for the last 7 years. He is a true inspiration and has personally been through 15 chemo treatments and 10 radiotherapy treatments. In 2008 it was my pleasure to accompany my other brother Andrew to Holland for stem cell replacement therapy for my brother David, and spend time helping them all. Not an easy task with three older siblings together but truly an experience.

This weekend he embarks on something wonderful. He is climbing a mountain on a bike!

Not just any mountain but the famous Alpe d' Huezes on the tour de france route. I am so proud of him. It has taken some real guts to do this.

Today he is my hero.

Alpe d’Huzes was created with the aim to empower people to convert the sense of powerlessness, caused by cancer, into one of strength. Since 2006 we have encouraged and challenged people to extend their boundaries beyond what they thought were possible. Alpe d’HuZes is founded on the absolute belief that you can attain the greatest possible satisfaction if you put your heart and soul into helping others. Our motto is “Never, ever quit”! We refuse to accept any limitations in what we can and will achieve. This is true for the cyclists, sponsors, and physicians, but mostly of course for the patients themselves.

Alpe d’HuZes’ goal is to develop a custom-made rehabilitation program for cancer patients that will be totally covered by the national health insurance. We feel this is necessary because at the moment cancer patients do not have an appropriate rehabilitation program designed for their specific needs such as those available for heart patients. For Alpe d’HuZes rehabilitation is of the utmost importance to cancer patients, as it adds to their quality of life. Our goals and philosophy are echoed in our mission statement: To facilitate and inspire people to lead Happy and Healthy lives in Harmony with cancer. Our foundation works for this unique program together with the KWF Kankerbestrijding (Dutch Cancer Society), Vrije Universiteit Medical Center, The Academisch Medisch Centrum, The Dutch Cancer Institute, and the Telematica Institute.

In 2009 at the Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam, Alpe d’HuZes will establish a Faculty Chair: Living with Cancer. The focus of this chair will reach beyond the basic rehabilitation program that deals primarily with the physical aspects of living with cancer and aims to combine and coordinate the physical and social aspects of life with cancer.

Music is such an ingrained part of our family - whether it be playing in the background softly or usually quite loudly in three different varieties. Our family has grown up with music, all different sorts and we have been blessed to watch the children choose their own instruments and play their own music. Nothing brings me greater joy than to see two of my children working on a tune and harmonising together. It's not always the case, sometimes there is fierce competition on whose is the loudest ---but still there is music and it makes my heart sing!

The Cab Ride
- a story for you all

I arrived at the address and honked the horn. After waiting a few minutes I walked to the door and knocked.

'Just a minute', answered a frail, elderly voice. I could hear something being dragged across the floor...

After a long pause, the door opened. A small woman in her 90's stood before me...

She was wearing a print dress and a pillbox hat with a veil pinned on it, like somebody out of a 1940's movie. By her side was a small nylon suitcase. The apartment looked as if no one had lived in it for years. All the furniture was covered with sheets. There were no clocks on the walls, no knickknacks or utensils on the counters. In the corner was a cardboard box filled with photos and glassware.

'Would you carry my bag out to the car?' she said. I took the suitcase to the cab, and then returned to assist the woman. She took my arm and we walked slowly toward the curb. She kept thanking me for my kindness.

'It's nothing', I told her... 'I just try to treat my passengers the way I would want my mother treated'.

'Oh, you're such a good boy', she said.

When we got in the cab, she gave me an address and then asked,’ could you drive through downtown?'

'It's not the shortest way,' I answered quickly....’Oh, I don't mind,' she said.’ I’m in no hurry. I'm on my way to a hospice'.

I looked in the rear-view mirror. Her eyes were glistening. 'I don't have any family left,' she continued in a soft voice... 'The doctor says I don't have very long. 'I quietly reached over and shut off the meter.

'What route would you like me to take?' I asked. For the next two hours, we drove through the city. She showed me the building where she had once worked as an elevator operator. We drove through the neighbourhood where she and her husband had lived when they were newlyweds. She had me pull up in front of a furniture warehouse that had once been a ballroom where she had gone dancing as a girl. Sometimes she'd ask me to slow in front of a particular building or corner and would sit staring into the darkness, saying nothing...

As the first hint of sun was creasing the horizon, she suddenly said, 'I'm tired. Let's go now'. We drove in silence to the address she had given me. It was a low building, like a small convalescent home, with a driveway that passed under a portico.

Two orderlies came out to the cab as soon as we pulled up. They were solicitous and intent, watching her every move. They must have been expecting her.

I opened the trunk and took the small suitcase to the door. The woman was already seated in a wheelchair.

'How much do I owe you?' She asked, reaching into her purse.

'Nothing,' I said

'You have to make a living,' she answered.

'There are other passengers,' I responded.

Almost without thinking, I bent and gave her a hug.

She held onto me tightly. 'You gave an old woman a little moment of joy,' she said. 'Thank you.'

I squeezed her hand, and then walked into the dim morning light. Behind me, a door shut. It was the sound of the closing of a life. I didn't pick up any more passengers that shift. I drove aimlessly lost in thought.

For the rest of that day, I could hardly talk. What if that woman had gotten an angry driver, or one who was impatient to end his shift? What if I had refused to take the run, or had honked once, then driven away?

On a quick review, I don't think that I have done anything more important in my life. We're conditioned to think that our lives revolve around great moments. But great moments often catch us unaware – beautifully wrapped in what others may consider a small one.

It's taken me over a week to post this post. I guess with all the time and effort it was all worth it. Our final display! It is hard to believe that a year's efforts are showcased at last. There was a lot of planning and market visits and panicking about the time restraints but it was completed and I was really happy with the results.

We worked for three hours - no less no more and this included conditioning the flowers and the designs. The wired work needed 50 units!

I have finally come to the end of my journey and fulfilled one of my life's dreams which was to become a fully qualified florist. I am now minus the certificates as we don't get those until next year. Still I know I have done it and achieved something for me.

Tomorrow after two weeks break I go back to work in my village florist and you know...I love it. x

I feel the earth move under my feet

James Taylor and Carole King, true legends.

What a fantastic treat I had this Easter. I was fortunate enough to get tickets to the Hope Estate performance of James Taylor and Carole King in concert.

The concert was set in a vineyard and was fantastic! We were treated to hit after hit with two fabulous performance. I was blown away by the energy and the soul of the occasion.

If you get the chance to get to a trubador encore concert, treat yourself. It is well worth it.

My favourite song I would have to say was " Natural woman!" That woman can sing! James gave way to her performance so graciously and really made Carole feel like a lady. He has the voice of a song bird still - I loved them both.

Our Easter was mixed with finding a quaint little place in Upper Hunter Valley NSW to stay.

This wouldn't be one I would suggest to others. It was more like a Fawltey towers experience!

Still entertainment from beginning to end. I guess it wasn't boring.

It's been a little quiet on the bogging front. I have been busy renovating and counting down until my final display date at College for my floristry - which is this Thursday. I have already been to the markets so it is ready - set - go in two more sleeps.

Feeling blue

An honest post for an honest feeling. Today I am feeling blue. Trying to juggle life and understanding the swings and roundabouts today just seems a little hard - in fact a lot hard.

From the beginning of the week where my son got his first big boy job - to the end of the week where my other son is showing his independence and immaturity. Today it just seems a little much. I won't wallow for long but I will be honest with myself.

It is a day off for this busy florist. Carpe Diem! Walking this morning I came across a gorgeous frangipani tree. I have always loved these flowers. They are like gold in NZ were I was born and harder to grow but here in Sydney they grow in abundance.

I love the look of them, their perfect shape, colour and especially their smell, they are gorgeous and this time of year are blooming.

It takes me back to my childood. We as a family were lucky enough to spend time in Hawaii, we used to find these on the side of the road on trees, collect them, string them on a necklace and wallaa a Lei. Perfect to wear with a Muumuu.

Back to school

It's hard to believe but it is that time already. The Summer holidays are behind us and the New Year rages ahead. It's February already and 1/12 of the year is over. I still feel as though I am catching my breath through Christmas. Wow. It's been a lovely summer - filled with friends and home. I love just spending time in our home and home town. The last few summer's have been busy ones and it was lovely just to relax a little with "home" things.

Now it all seems to have sped up again, there are books to be bought, and covered. I must say I am not the best at this job. I may be creative but somehow didn't receive the gift of being able to cover a book with cover-seal without creases and bends. It is just not my forte. Perhaps it is time to pass this task on.

It is also a time to think about the year ahead - activities to plan, dancing, singing, music, sport - I am already exhausted. Somehow we all seem to manage it and to juggle it and somehow The Christmas tree sleeps for a few months and then just magically appears. I won't wish the year away as I think it's going to be GREAT. I am looking forward to a new one. I have some new ideas sprouting and I must say I am excited. I will share later. I hope all your school years have started off well.

For one of mine he won't grace the gates of the school again - he has officially left. Quite amazing to think about.

Happy New Year everyone! May this year be a year that brings all your hopes and dreams to reality.

I had so many ideas for this post. The New Year brings about many possibilities. That's just it! Possibilities and they can change into my or your opportunity in a heartbeat. It is really up to us.

I'm excited this year. I have woken up with a clear head and thoughts. Something was said last night that made me think. " Put aside now the mistakes of yesterday and think to the future!" - oh so true.

Looking back though in reflection, 2009 was a massive one for me personally. I took a leap of faith and I am loving the newness of it all. To help it remain fresh I am going to continue to dream. I was tired at the end of last year but now there is a time of rest and to look to the future. It's going to be a great year.

On my list of to dos I have an idea to make a dream board. It doesn't have to be something that I necessarily will do but just something to put out there into the universe and see what happens. So it starts today - my hopes and dreams of 2010. Exciting - join me in the journey. x

I feel I have kind of had my Christmas presents. A year filled with so much. It's been a wonderful adventure.

I am a little weary at the end of it now but I think most working folks are - and the stay at home peoples! It is easy to lose sight of the spirit of the season when everyone and everything about you seems to have sped up even more. I am trying, to stop and to be thankful - to contemplate and not to navel gaze too much. I am a little grumpy and a little tired.

Tears are just on the brink as I think it is time for a holiday. .. Hopefully I will have photos to share soon of all the goings on in the shop. It is time to be festive - even at work.

The kiddies are even looking out for Santa. x

I am sure in a former life somewhere some how I was French. I find myself loving, seeing and being French. The French markets at the Entertainment Quarter are no exception. The Market is so decidedly French, from the little man at the Pattisserie - to the French Market bags, it is all so lovely. I love to go here on a Saturday and just take my " Little French bag" and swan around. We did this last weekend and I bought some beautiful flowers. They looked lovely all wrapped in their brown paper and I made something for a friend.

Yes our tree is up. We put it up last weekend and everyone helped.

The house is now sparkling with Christmas lights and awaiting Santa.

I had a lovely weekend last weekend but have been swamped with the week that has gone. Thank goodness I feel a sense of being organised. There is just hubby to buy for but I have already spotted something lovely.

While my daughter and I were dressing the tree she commented " Mum, I love the way our tree isn't perfect, there are many memories on it aren't there?

Not a truer word spoken. It's just perfect for us!

Have a super weekend and don't get too caught up in the Christmas bustle.

The 5th day already!

Today is the 5th day of December and somehow Christmas just snuck up on me this year. Usually I am eager to pop the tree up weeks before I should - I am baking cookies and it is all Christmas. This year is a little different. We are very tardy with the tree. I have organised some presents but not all by the 1st of Dec. Usually they are wrapped and hidden for Santa. Wow life has taken a turn. We are being invited to Christmas gatherings and it all seems a little early.

I love to relish in the Christmas season. It is really a time I enjoy so much - so here on in - work or no work - I will hum those Christmas carols and get that tree in motion. I hope you are all enjoying the season. It is time to put my big boys to work and lug the tree from it's yearly home.

Wooop woop! I have just finished my major wedding assignment for the year! I felt it looming over me and it feels so good to get the paper work done. Life is so full of the practise these days and I am actually finding a LIKE wired work, yes it is a little tedious and takes some time - but the attention to detail is something I am loving. Doing wedding work at college seems to have come at a perfect time. I am now doing a fair bit in the shop as well on a friday. I get so caught up in it all. I realise though that only a florist gets a true buzz from the flowers. I get so excited but don't always see that excitement in the bride's- perhaps they are nervous and perhaps I am misjudging.

Life is really evolving, it has been on speed dial for a while now but I am loving the ride.

Wedding flowers are the flavour of the month now at college. We are doing - posies, foam bouquets, and trailing bouquets. Last term wiring seemed to have me stumped or more so the corsage! I just couldn't get it and then I did. At the moment I feel like this with trailing bouquets. It didn't click for me until after class when I realised where I was going wrong and now the problem comes of having to wait a whole week before I can fix it in my mind.

Perfectionism is something I struggle with and with learning a new skill I want it just right the first time. I know it takes time but to some it comes so easy. Today this budding florist feels a little wilted. I just don't get it but one day I will.

What do to!? I love these chicky short styles. They are so chic and really look so nice - well I have been "blessed" with a mop of curly locks and so when I try the shorter look my hair decides to look something like an ice-cream. Or so my kids tell me. I have had long hair most of my life and when my kids were really young I cut it all off - it was that way for 10 years. Now after a few years of growing it is finally LONG. When I go to the hair salon I go for "the usual" - blonde highlights and a lovely smooth blow wave. There is little diversion but for a few days my hair looks and feels lovely.

On Saturday I went to the salon and asked for my "usual" - the only problem was my usual lady wasn't there . I braved the chair and went anyway. What could they do? Not a good move. My hair had re-growth when I left the salon and I didn't have that fresh feeling you get with a new do, I was also in the chair for 4 hours. It was frizzy in no time. I spent the next few hours convincing myself and my family that it was ok - the last straw was when I told my MIL that I had been to the salon - she asked Did you? what did they do?

I have never done this before but I called the salon - the unhappy customer. Today I got my normal do. It looks and feels fresh. I chatted away to my hairdresser and I felt special once again. I hated complaining but now feel as though I have been treated. I am swinging my newly fresh curls in the breeze.
