Made with love

Today I worked in the shop. I had a phone call - I was asked to make a bouquet. Not just any bouquet but a bouquet for an angel. A little baby had passed away at birth and I was asked to make something special for her mummy. What a commission. It was in pink and white blooms. The gentle words of the giver were to please " make it with love". It was.

Hello all - have just finished an assignment and about to get my beauty sleep but had to share.
We had to do a tribute at college for someone - it was a funeral tribute for someone who had passed away.
My tribute was to Jane McGrath. What a beautiful soul. I decided to make it a "pink ribbon".
Jane's favourite flower was the tulip and pink ones seemed perfect. We don't have to make the design, just illustrate it - the whole project got me thinking about my Heroes, she would have to be one of them.
I just love this picture too.

Never enough!

This week has been a busy one. Some days it really feels as though time just slips away and you are left dazed. I feel like that a lot lately. I had some wonderful Friday moments with some friends this morning after a busy week. We were sharing our worlds over coffee and just being together felt like comfortable slippers. It's so easy to sometimes get so caught up in life that it just slips from our fingertips and we don't notice.
I have been reminded of this lately - sometimes through tragedy - just how life can change for us all in a heart beat. Also through life's lessons, never realising that the troubled teen just might be at your own door step *sigh*
For me this means I want and need to redeem the day - Carpe Diem. There is no time like the present. I never really understood what that meant, now I am getting it.
Today I feel a little philosophical. Life is just speeding along and I am just catching my breath.

And what a beautiful scent they have
My hat stand sits quietly today waiting for it's new week. It get a well earned rest and so do I.
I don't really need it today. It just wait until Monday to be graced again my the hats they are placed on it. My roles are all having a rest. A lazy Saturday. It starts will a mocha and delicious banana bread. There is no set plan of attack or deadlines. A few things NEED to be done but nothing urgent. Life is lovely when it slows down a little. Today there will be time to smell the roses!

Whisked away

This weekend Hubby whisked me away to a lovely Gold Coast destination. We were shmoozed ( I was thinking how to spell this word) by the hotel shmoozer to make a booking as a prospective client in the future. Oh how I love shmoozing!! The luxury of 5 star accomodation, champagne, beautiful food, the most comfortable beds, gorgeous breakfast and did I mention champagne? It will be featured in a later blog as I have now discovered my new favourite!
It was a lovely weekend. So nice just to blow the cobwebs away. The best part was a lovely walk on the beach Sunday morning. My toes tinkled the ocean, the sun kissed our faces and somehow things just seem a little but better. I even got to grace my new summer dress.

This little Florist went to market

A lovely vintage collection - gum-nuts, sweet-peas, roses & rinnunculas
Unforgetable forget-me-nots
Gorgeous gum-nuts
In a new vase

Almost fit for a hand-tied wedding bouquet. Loving this
soft greys - oh don't you just love those gumnuts?

This morning I braved the day got up early to get to the flower markets by 5.45am. It's a busy bustling world all alive and kicking even at this ungodly hour. I do love it. I get so exciting there with everyone organising their lives and their shops. I do find though I feel a sense of being overwhelmed by everything there is on offer. A child let loose in a candy shop and told they can pick what they like!!! My goodness. Again I am confronted by my taste. What is it that I like? What takes my fancy? It isn't hard. I am discovering a passion for certain flowers of the whimsical nature. Anything vintage - soft and textured. I can still understand the modern lineal design and am happy to do it but these just seem to hit the spot.
Whimsical also seems to be the flavour of the day - it really describes me well somehow.

Friday Flowers and Finds

Perfect little bottles

For perfect blooms

Happy Weekend everyone!

It's been a good week. I have had my hat stand ready with many changes of roles and I have loved it.
It seems that even though I am adding to the busyness of my days - there is more contentment.
Perhaps it is because I am reaching an inner need - I'm not sure but I know it is good.
This week one day after work I stopped by an area I hadn't been before. I love to just peruse and I found some lovely shops and delicious coffee. One of my finds this week was a lovely kitchen shop, it in there were beautiful wares - old and new. I came across these little bottles. Now with new eyes to the world of little buds I grabbed them and now they are filled. Don't they make the sweetest vases? A good Find for Friday flowers!

Have a lovely weekend everyone.

A Flower post for a flower blog

Keeping things simple
Beautiful! More than a posy bowl!
Isn't she clever!?

I thought it was about time that I wrote once again about my journey with flowers as this was the original intent of this blog. I love the way it has evolved though - I can't seem to help myself blogging my world.
This week I had the pleasure of accompanying one of our senior florists from the shop to the Hilton in Sydney CBD. They are one of our corporate clients and I felt very privileged to be able to add this to my work experience. The work of our senior florist Rachel is wonderful and she just makes it look effortless. It's a far cry from the world of triangular arrangements and posy bowls - although the principles are surprisingly the same. There are a few of my efforts also. In the corporate world things are quite different with uniformity and simplicity with not too much detouring off the plan. I enjoyed flying under the radar and just helping in the wings.

Lets get this Party started.

I have never thought that this process of blogging for me would evolve the way it has. I have only been blogging a sort time but am amazed at the community of people and wealth there is out there in "blog world". This morning I read in one of my favourite blogs about the release of a new book devoted to blogging Blogging for bliss -Tara Frey. This collection of 50 bloggers thoughts and reasons, tips and ideas for blogging just sounds perfect. I am looking forward to getting my hands on a copy. So I am browsing the page as I type and I can't wait.
Thank you Kari for the lovely release party on your blog and lets keep this party going!
